About the Journal
Topoi. Revista de História is a fully open access publication of the Postgraduate Program in Social History of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, whose main objective is to stimulate academic debates through articles, interviews, reviews, translations and essays of historical criticism. In continuous operation since 2000, Topoi is open to all disciplinary fields, specialties, periods and historical themes. A strong promoter of exogeny, Topoi publishes, in its vast majority, articles by external authors, both national and foreign, including dossiers selected from public calls. By encouraging the production of original texts, the journal aims to stimulate academic debates, disseminating conclusions and experiments of contemporary research in History, bringing to the academic public the new intellectual fruits achieved by the most qualified scholars of the Humanities.
Published in print for over eight years, Topoi took on a new format in 2008, presenting itself as an electronic journal based on the principles of open access and, since 2024, operating on a continuous flow system. Fully accessible and free of charge to authors and readers, Topoi does not charge submission or article processing fees, nor access fees for its readers. The journal therefore combines editorial expertise with a solid and successful tradition, remaining an important vehicle for the dissemination of contemporary historiographical production to a wide audience.
Its abbreviated title is Topoi (Rio J.), which should be used in bibliographies, footnotes and bibliographical references and strips.
